Need advice, having potty issues with Ava....TMI
So, Ava has been potty trained for almost a year now, she doesn't have accidents, she's really been great through it all, however, she's holding in her poops. She tells me she doesn't want to go. She won't tell me why, but I think it's because once a couple of weeks ago, she was constipated and it must have hurt her to go. Anyway, since then, we've been upping her fiber and she's gone much easier, but now, she has this mind over matter thing. Up until the aforementioned constipation, she went every day like clockwork, now she will go three days just holding it in. We fight with her to sit on the potty, and sometimes she sits there for over an hour before she goes. I need advice because I really don't know what to do

Have you tried a little pear or prune juice?

Yes, we've been trying both. We've tried upping her water intake everyday, too. We've also tried bribing and rewarding, etc. The problem is, I don't think she's having a hard time pooping, I think she just doesn't WANT to go and I don't know how to get around that Thank you for responding

Sounds like a bit of a battle of wills.....could she be exhibiting some control over one of the only things she has complete control over?

That's what I'm thinking, I just don't know what to do about it, if anything

Maybe don't give her a lot of attention about it. Keep giving her the fiber and such but don't make a big deal about pooping and it may just work itself out
