Need Advice, Input, Good Vibes..ANYTHING!
Hi and let me start by saying my heart is will all of you who are trying to conceive and/or have had the miracle of conceiving.
I started my process over the summer to get ready for my first IVF experience. I always thought I was the problem and found out my DH has severe male factor infertility. We have to do ICSI along with IVF. Although I finished most of my prelimenary appointments in August, I am not planning on beginning treatment until mid December. My insurance covers IVF partially and DH's fully so we are waiting until January 1st to put me on his insurance.
My own insurance covers meds, and sono's fully so I figured I'd try to start maybe the 2nd week in December just making sure the actual IVF/ICSI won't occur until after January 1st when I am on DH's insurance.
Since it's been a few months since I went for my IVF consult (I use East Coast) I am starting to blank out how I begin the process.
Looking for reminders from you girls. What's my first step? I was given a script for BCP's to start. If I want to have the treatment after January 1st..what time in December should I begin all of it..the BCP, Meds, etc? I am so confused!
I am a teacher and the morning monitoring is going to be SO hard. I live out east but teach in Queens. Yikes!
Thanks for the advice and your listening hearts!
Keri

Before you plan out all of that...you might want to check with DH's insurance...they may not be required to continue treatment mid-cycle. I'm not really sure how it works.
Otherwise, make sure East Coast knows what you are doing because these offices have calenders they have to follow and you need to make sure you will be in the right time frame for their calender. Then ask them when you should start taking BCP's for your IVF cycle.

Yes, I agree with Gerty. I would definitely double check with the insurance. You may just want to wait until January to start the cycle. You never know if they'll continue your treatment mid-cycle and may not be worth the 2 weeks you lost.
Also, Usually you start taking BCP 3-5 days after your period and take them for approximately 3 weeks while using using Lupron. Then you'll stim from approximately 9-12 days with whatever med cocktail your doctor prescribes then its on to retrieval. Usually 3-5 days after retrieval you'll have your transfer. Depending on your age, they'll transfer 2 or 3 embies.
I'm not sure if you've done all the preliminary tests that are required at least by my office (and I imagine they are similar because Dr. Kreiner used to be partners with my Dr. Kenigsberg), but they usually want you to have HSG, water sono and some other stuff before you begin the process. My doctor even had DH and I see a therapist before we started IVF. It can be sort of stressful.
Good luck to you!
