Need advice! re: food
DS is 8 months old and has no teeth yet. For the last month, he had been eating less and less solid foods from a jar. He now boycotts meals all together. The only thing he seems interested in is cheerios. He'll eat the whole box if I let him. Sometimes he'll have some puffs too, but he won't eat the dried fruit, cookies or toast. I tried some fresh fruit like bananas and he wouldn't eat it and he wouldn't eat mashed regular or sweet potatoes either. He will eat breads and have some of my english muffin or bagel and he does like chicken nuggets.
How the heck to I feed him well on his schedule and work full time? If he only seems to want real food lately and is extremely picky about it, how do I get us both ready in the morning and try to make something? The worst part is the evening, because we don't get hom till 6 and he's already tired and I'm rush rush to get in a bottle and bath as it is and get him in bed by 7 before he becomes crazy cranky. How do I come and try to make a meal and fit in feeding him? Not only that, but what the heck can I make that's quick and nutritious?
I guess I'm looking for food and quick meal suggestions and any time saving tips from working moms. TIA!

Re: Need advice! re: food
no advice, I am in the same boat.
the only thing that works for me sometimes is round things. Peas, corn, blueberries.
Spirial pasta with tons of sauce on it and peas mixed in.
mine eats cheerios 3 times a day with every meal. Its the only way I can keep him in the chair.

Re: Need advice! re: food
how about pasta with butter? or cheese? cheese sticks? cold meat (like ham turkey) and preztels, carrot sticks, grapes? you can cut them in half? apples, any fruit really. how about eggs? does he like eggs? toast? I make my kids quesadillas that are quick and easy.
take 2 tortillas, layer regular cheese slices over that and then top it off with another tortilla and throw it in the micro for 30-45 seconds and viola! quesadillas! you can add anything you want to it!

Re: Need advice! re: food
My DS eats dinner at 5-5:30 and I usually haven't cooked anything at that point. So what I do is I cook later and then save a portion for him to eat the next day. That way he gets a real and nutritious meal, but he's just a day behind what my DH and I eat. We never eat until at least 7:30-8:00 so it just works better for us this way.

That is a GREAT idea!!!!!
Some of the other suggestions were great too...I think he would like a quesedilla....I'm just worried about what I give him since he's only 8 months and no teeth.

Re: Need advice! re: food
sometimes my surprises me and eats meatloaf.
I make him his own special one. Organic ground turkey, no egg whites, at the time he was allergic to cheese(so no breadcrumbs), tons of veggies.
mushrooms, tomatos, peas, corn, peppers...I would slice it up and freeze in little baggies. defrost and serve with sweet potato, it was the perfect quick meal.
