Need advice regarding nanny/daycare

I am not due until April but DH and I are thinking about what we are going to do with the baby if I have to go back to work. I work Mon.-Fri. 9-5:30 a steady schedule. DH is a cop and has a rotating schedule. Some days he has off 2 days a week others 3, and the days are never the same. Some weeks he will have off weekends so I will need someone to watch the baby all 5 weekdays. DH can see if he can have a steady schedule at work, but it is no guarantee. What would you do? Look into daycare and see if they will work with you or find a nanny? If you used a nanny, would you pay them the same $$$ every week whether they worked 2 days or 5?

Re: Need advice regarding nanny/daycare

A lot of day care centers we went to won't take part-time infant. Just full time M-F.

Tudor time has a 3 days schedule (3 full days) for infants also but it's only $25 cheaper per week. For toddler, they accept half days but not for infant.

Most places will not let you switch your schedule either.

So let's say, you bring your baby on week 1 on M W and F. Well, you can't switch to other days the week 2 or 3. They like consistency just because of their staff.

You might find a nanny who is more flexible and is willing to switch schedules.

when I was a nanny, I got paid the same amount of money every week...even if I worked less hours or days.
The people I worked for were very good to me...they gave me two weeks paid vacation and sick days as well. You can FM me if you have any questions.
