Need birth control recommendations...
I got an IUD last week and that didn't turn out so well. The only options my doctor gave me was the pill or the shot. Now, call me crazy, but I thought there were more options out there. I am NOT good with remembering to take pills daily. I'm changing doctors, so what should I talk to my NEW doctor about? What's a good birth control option that doesn't have to be taken every day? Thanks in advance!

The NuvaRing? I don't know anyone who has used it though.
Or condoms. I don't think they prescribe the patch anymore, but I could be wrong about that.

I think they took it off the market b/c it placed too many hormones in the body and they saw an increase in blood pressure and cancer - unrelated cases.

Yes, I actually tried the patch when it first came out. Had a horrible experience. I forgot about the Nuvaring....I wonder how that is.

Yeah, not exactly the route I had in mind, but we might have to go with that option.

I would definitely ask your Dr. about NuvaRing. It's something you change once monthly.

Re: Need birth control recommendations...
My friend is on the Nuvaring, she loves it....you put it in and leave it for three weeks...take it out the week of your period. It has the same side effects has BCP
Besides pills...condoms or what about a diaphragm? (actually do they even still do that?)

I was on the Ortho-Evra patch for a year and never had a problem with it--- however many women were experiencing a high rate of blood clots, so I took myself off of it.
from what i hear the nuva-ring works well....

I liked Ortho TriCyclen the best. I never had a problem and I was on alot of them, they kept switching me. This one had the least side effects. GL.

Re: Need birth control recommendations...
I'm on ortho tricyclen, and have been for years after trying tons of different BC pills. It's not perfect--I get mid cycle spotting still--but I take it every night when I brush my teeth and haven't missed a night in 10 years or something. I'm anal like that. So long as I leave it right next to my toothbrush I don't forget. You know my best friend and MOH--she has horrible mood swings and depression on BC pills and has tried everything...Not sure what she is on now, but last we talked about it she was on low hormone pills. She used to burst out crying for no reason when on certain kinds.
For you honestly maybe DH should consider a vasectomy. I know you both don't want any more kids, and in comparison to any permanent options for you (getting tubes tied), a vasectomy is relatively easy and painless. It's outpatient with very little or no pain (or so I've heard!), just uses a local anesthetic, and takes less than half an hour. I know he might prefer it to the condoms option, which is good in theory but in reality....
Anyway, if you need a new gyno, I have a great one on 347 close to you who I love--FM me if you want the info. Good luck!

Last time I was on ortho tricylen, I got very depressed. It was weird. I should have considered getting my tubes tied while I was getting the C-section and was already cut open. In fact, a nurse had asked me if I was going to and I laughed. I wish I had considered it . I doubt DH would go for it, but hey, wouldn't hurt to ask. I'm going to FM you about the gyno.
Thanks for all your responses ladies!
