Need computer HELP... Where can I take it to see what's wrong?
I went to upload some pictures on my computer and my printer wasn't working, kept saying it was disconnected. When I tried to unplug and then replug it in, I still got the same error, so I rebooted.
HUGE MISTAKE
Now when I boot up, I get the Window's XP screen, followed by the dreaded blue screen with the following error mesage:
"STOP: c0000221 {Bad Image Checksum}
The image CRYPT32.dll is possibly corrupt. The header checksum does not match the computed checksum."
Now what? I am using DH's computer and it just doesn't cut it! I have everything on my computer!!
HELP ME!

You'll either need to replace the corrupted file, or reinstall your OS.
See if you can get the file from your husband's computer, and boot into safe mode/recovery console on your PC and replace the file.

I called Geek Squad went crazy. DH doesn't know computers well enough and I was too afraid. It cost us but they fixed it and then some!

As soon as the computer starts booting, press the F8 key.
If you can't even boot into safe mode, you can try the Windows XP Recovery console if you have the installation CD. That is an all command line interface and would probably be a little more difficult for you to work with if you havent used it before.
How to use recovery console

Micro Center on Merrick Avenue also fixes computers. You can call them and ask to bring it in. I dont know how close you are to them.

I can't help you with fixing your problem (NO ONE is more of a computer illiterate than me). However, if you want to take it somewhere and you live anywhere near Holbrook, Creative Computers on Main Street is the place to go. They are absolutely the best in building and servicing computers. Their prices are reasonable and I don't think there isn't any problem they can't fix. I wish you luck.

Re: Need computer HELP... Where can I take it to see what's wrong?
I brought my computer several times to Best Buy to use the geek squad and they are very good, but they can be expensive... I think that any computer repair is a lot though. They also convinced me to get a lot of software that I normally would not have gotten. I have started using this guy that picks your computer up and drops it back off at your house within a day usually. He is great! And so cheap... FM me if you want his name! He works out of Huntington and lives in West Islip, but he will pick your computer up anywhere basically...

Re: Need computer HELP... Where can I take it to see what's wrong?
Sorry I didn't get back to you ladies sooner. I saw Wicked on Broadway tonight, so I was out for a bit
Since its late, I will try the suggestions tomorrow. And report back. I just hope I haven't lost anything on my computer. I have lots of software loaded on it.
And I don't have any installation disks at home with me. The computer came from my FIL - it was an extra one form thier business. I can always ask him for the disks if I need to.
Thanks for all the suggestions, I'll report back tomorrow!
