Need Creative Ideas for Take Your Kid to Work Day...
So I just got roped into doing a session for Take Your Kids To Work Day on April 27th.
I'm a corporate trainer and they want me to do something "fun and interactive" with the kids that has to do with HR and Training.
They range in age from 7-12 and there will be 12 of them per session.
I'm drawing a blank here. Any ideas from my creative friends???
TIA!!

Can you adapt any of your motivation training for kids? How about training on the industry your company is in?

Hi Lauren! I did this one year too- we had the kids write their "resumes" and then they "interviewed" each other.
We started off by asking then about what kind of jobs they wanted when they grew up and then what kind of skills they needed for the job- so, if a kid wants to be a fireman, they need to be brave. So, on their resume they write that their job is a first grade student and they were very brave by raising their hands a lot for the teacher....
it was fun! HTH!

How about giving them like a 3 minute allotment each and letting them "train" the class on a topic or item that they are interested in? Like say little Jimmy is an expert on video games. Let him go up and explain to everyone how a specific game works; how the controllers work, what levels you can excel to, etc. Have them make up diagrams/drawings, etc. to correspond to their topic.

Hey...we had a huge Kids Day last year.
We did arts and crafts, a scavenger hunt, and even had a puppeteer from the Sesame Workshop come in to make puppets...even if you can't have someone like that come in, puppets are so easy to make. We also made a music video!

Re: Need Creative Ideas for Take Your Kid to Work Day...
we had girls in our office a few years back
we did this- we bought a bunch of magazines (for kids age like big bop and hilights, etc) -(about 2 per kid and they traded with each other), tag paper (1 piece per kid), glue and tape and a bunch of scissors and stickers
we had them cut out things that were important to them - i remember kids cut out pics of dogs, or the word LOVE or a family or a pool because they want a pool , etc.
then the pasted/taped these cut up things on tag paper and decorated it with stickers and stuff then they each present their collage to the group and explained why they cut these things out
ive used this many times and the kids seem to like it

Maybe I am boring, but I would have them write a business letter, as if they were applying for their dream job. When I was teaching, I realized that a lot of kids miss this skill in school and if they are writing about something they love to do, it could be fun for them.
