I'm real cheap too. I have a gorgeous pair of heeled brown boots, but they're not for every day when running with the kids. So I cheaped out and got a pair from Old Navy that work well. They are $39.50 and I bought when I had a 20% off coupon. Not sure if its your style, just thought I'd throw it out there.
You can save 30% online....

Geez, tell me how you really feel 
I ordered #1 in grey and #2 in brown - hesitantly - because I am desperate and impatient, but I can return them and I am open to more suggestions.
They would be for under my pants. I have a badonkadonk that looks no bueno in skinny jeans.

In my defense you didn't mention you had bought them  . I would have said I liked them in that case.
I just hate that synthetic boots are $40. They will look rough after about a month and your poor toes will be wet and freezing or a sweaty mess. For a little extra I think you could get leather ones that will last you a few years instead of half of a season.
Aldos always have nice brown leather ankle boots that are flat but not super flast and perfect for casual wear. I couldn't find them on their site though but they are def in the store since I saw them 2 days ago

You are hysterical - I bought them after you posted, so really I just asked Yay or Nay to make myself feel better, I wasn't looking for real feedback. Kind of like when someone asks for opinions but really only want people to post if they agree with them 
I hate spending $$ on boots and work shoes because I am so rough with my shoes, I replace them every two years or so as it is.
I'll be at Roosevelt Field later this week so I'll check out Aldo's, I already went into Bakers and Wild Pair and walked out in about 30 seconds.

I usually don't spend a lot on boots either (under $100 like you) and I agree they look cheap and you can find better! I usually buy mine later/end of season though so the prices are less. Try DSW.com or Zappos.com. The end of last season I bought a brown leather Aerosoles from Zappos and Black Suede Nine West boots from DSW.

I think #2 are okay, but nothing special. I don't really like #1 at all. I'm always looking for boots with low heels, so I know it's not easy.
