Need hair help! Getting color done tonight!
So my hair is a natural dark dirty blonde but I've been getting highlights for many years. My stylist talked me into balayage and toner, and my hair is too bleachy gold blonde and my roots are like 2 different colors. I love the dimension of highlights and lowlights, but I can't seem to convey to them what I want done. Can someone help me? I saw another poster say shadow root, base break, etc...but how do I achieve this?
Natural color:
Current color:
What I have been desperately trying to achieve over the years to no avail:
Obviously, my hair right now is super light. I told them we need to cool it down and add some dark lowlights, and I understand that it can be a process, but is this unrealistic? Am I expecting too much? I feel like I keep telling them what I want and not getting it. Maybe I've gone too far with the blonde and I can't fix it?
HELPPPPPPPPPPPPPPP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
ETA: The pictures are similar to what I have, not exact, but give a visual of what I am working with.

Going darker is easier than going lighter, so it shouldn't be a long process like it would be to get super dark hair to the right shade of blonde. They should be able to put color over your too light blonde and get it to where you want it then go from there with highlights and lowlights.
What you want looks like hi and lo lights together.
I find that whenever they "don't listen" or "dont' get it" I need to find a new colorist.
Once I did, suddenly it was easy.

Try Andrea at di rosa. She is a color genius.

Re: Need hair help! Getting color done tonight!
Low lights will definitely help. I don't like the golden blonde on me, which is what I had apparently gotten a few months ago. I told my stylist I didn't like the "golden" look and she suggested we go "beige blond". I don't really know what that means but a hairdresser should. All I know is I will never go back to golden. It looks more like your second picture so maybe ask about that along with the low lights.
