need help 16m month old and shots
I'm not sure what shots ds should be getting. At his last visit we didn't do any he was just getting over pneumonia so I didn't want to do any while his immune system was down. So now I know he is behind, but I don't want him to get to many shots at once. I think he is due for the hib and prevnar. Also the mmr. Do I do the hib and prevnar now, or due the mmr now? I really hate all of this. Help, I need opinions.

As far as all the shots go the HIB shot is the safest of all, so I wouldn't hesitate to give him that one. The others however not sure. I'm on the fence about prevnar and I do not like the MMR. If you wanna split all 3 I don't see why not if its a concern to you.

Re: need help 16m month old and shots
At Kaydyn's 15 month visit she was supposed to get MMR, HIB and the chicken pox vaccines. Kaydyn has a reaction to EVERY shot she gets so we talked to the ped about it. They said that the HIB was not a fever producing vaccine so we decided to do that one and the MMR. She is supposed to go back shortly for the Chicken pox one so that she is back on track for her 18 month shots.
I say if you are worried have them do one a month until you are caught up.

Re: need help 16m month old and shots
DS got MMR, Chicken Pox and HIB at 16 months (it ws supposed to be 15 months but we had to reschedule due to a cold)
Do what you are comfortable with. My Ped does split/delay shots unless there is a really good reason. I am comfortable with their vaccination schedule although I would probably have held off on chicken pox if they were more supportive of that. However DS has never had any reaction to any of his shots and I really felt I had no reason to delay. He did have a minor reaction to this round of shots, a small rash on his back which went away after about 1 week.
Good Luck with your decision.

Re: need help 16m month old and shots
My DS is 2 yrs old and behind on shots by 6 mos to a year. I am giving them only one at a time, starting with his first shot. My ped is totallly fine with that.He still hasn't gotten the MMR and won't gt prevnar as not a "required" shot. He probably won't be caught up until age 4 or so. In the end it is your decision, if your ped disagrees with you, change peds.

Re: need help 16m month old and shots
So I brought him in this afternoon. They ended up just doing the mmr. He had no other shots. Thanks for all your responses, I get so nervous before these appointments.
