need help about going back to work

I start back at work a week from today. I have been practicing being away from DS while the nanny stays with him. I thought I would be OK but my heart hurts. Yesterday I stayed away for 6 hours - the longest so far - and I felt like someone took one of my lungs out. I found it hard to breathe. Chat Icon I need some words of advice from BTDT full-time office working moms about starting back again...

It is healthy for your baby to get to know other people. I have found it to be nice to have some adult time at work also. Chat Icon Good luck, it's not easy but it gets better over time. You are definitely not alone!!

I won't lie... it's hard... but you will/can do it! The first week will be hard, maybe even the second week. But it will get easier. I still have good and bad days... I get through it because I have to... I find that on bad days, it makes me feel better if I buy something for Michael! Make sure you have lots of pictures of your baby up so you can stare at their face all day long!

You'll get through it! Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

It will be easier when you are at work, and busy - as opposed to having a free day and missing your DS like crazy, eventually!

I did a 'practice' day care day also, and just came home and cried for a little bit and tried to enjoy my free day. now my DD loves daycare and her face smiles when she sees the person that runs her infant room in the morning, which makes me feel good. Now she is starting to smile when she sees ME in the evenings, which makes me feel even better.

Good luck - its hard but it will be OK!
