Need help again please (poop related)...

So DD has finally started going after 6 days and a trip to the doc. She is BF and is now on oatmeal, pears and a small amount of prunes. Today is Day 3 and she has now pooped 4x today, each time a small amount.

The dilemma is that it's like glue! It takes me forever to clean her up and now she is red and raw.

My question is-is she getting too much now? Shouldn't it be a little thinner? And why isn't she just getting it out in two poops instead of four small ones?

I just feel so bad for her....

not a ton of advice as to why...but with regards to it being hard to clean off...are you putting vaseline on? i know thats what we were to do at the beg. because its hard to clean them when they are first born...we used it for quite awhile...really helps to make it stick to their skin less!

I agree with putting vasline on her little hiney like a barrier.

As to whether or not it's too much. You would be surprised what their little intestines can hold and she is probably cleaning out. If it continues or the color of the bowels seem really off then I would call the doctor.

Is Balmex okay to use also in this case?

if your worried about the difficulty of wiping it off i would stick to vaseline or petro jelly...
maybe even switch it up throughout the day...after she has a bowel movement put the balmex on and then im sure her next diaper is usually just pee? then put the vaseline on in anticipation? not really sure just trying to give some options!

i use A and D or vaseline it works wonders..

pooping that many times is fine. it is her body getting used to food. Not to worry.

Awwwww! Poor Baby!!!

Its not too many times- Kaitlyn usually poops 4x a day every day!

No advice on the consistency of it- it should get better! We use A&D most of the time- and it is awesome! I only use diaper cream when its raw or really red- so you may want to try that in the mean time!
