Need help, any my fitness pal or couch to 5k people come in please!
So, before I got pregnant/ had son (he's 17 months now) I had lost 30 pounds just doing calorie restriction on my fitness pal. I wasn't quite at goal but felt great, fast forward, got pregnant luckily only gained 30 pounds so I was back where I started but it came off after a few weeks, but then I gained it all back! started doing my fitness pal again, almost one year ago and haven't lost anything, I've been playing with the same freaking 5 pounds for a year. any advice? I know I eat too many carbs but I have a lot of food sensitivities and it limits what I can eat. so, I walk with my son in stroller a lot so I decided to start couch to 5k and omg Iam so out of shape, it killed me on day one...does it get easier? will it help me with this plateau? any advice would be great, I want to start trying to get pregnant next year but I can't have this extra weight on me....

Re: Need help, any my fitness pal or couch to 5k people come in please!
A couple of years ago, I realized that I had (slowly) gained a lot of weight and was about 25-30 lbs over where I wanted to be.
Although I had success in the past with WW, I didn't feel like getting involved with it (paying, counting points), so I tried My Fitness Pal as an alternative. I thought it would be simpler and easier. I also did couch to 5K during this period, because I wanted to start exercising more and getting into better shape, and it seemed like a plan that anyone could do (and it cost nothing and I could fit it in whenever I wanted to).
I did complete the couch to 5K program, BUT during the period I did it (and watched calories via MFP), I only lost about 6-7 lbs.
Couch to 5K did get easier, but if I am honest, running was never truly "easy" or enjoyable for me. The first week or so was the hardest, and then the week where you do the first "long" run (I always did it by time, not mileage, so the 20 minute run) was challenging. But it definitely did get easier. For some, I know that C25K gets them into running and they get the "bug" and then run all of these races. But for me, I realized that I am someone who doesn't really like "formal" exercise, and I prefer to work my activity into my life in more social ways that I find more "fun." So I do zumba, tennis, golf, etc. But if you want to try to get into running, I think c25K is a good program (and if I can do it, anyone can).
For the weight loss, I really believe it's 95% food intake and 5% exercise. Exercise can help speed weight loss and help with weight maintenance, and it definitely makes you more toned and has health benefits. But I think food should be the main focus for weight loss.
My Fitness Pal didn't seem to work well for me... I had to go back to WW, and once I did, I lost the 30 lbs I wanted to lose (and then some) within about 5 months. I personally needed the structure of WW, and for me, counting points was actually simpler (especially since fruits and most veggies are 0 pts). It was harder for me to track calories and macronutrients and all of that. I also liked the accountability of weekly weigh ins at a WW center.
But if you stick with MFP, maybe just try to shake things up... research some new foods to try, try eating different amounts at different times of day. I think mixing things up can help move the scale.
Also, are you sure you are eating the right portions? I find that using a food scale and weighing things (in grams) helps me make sure that I am eating the proper serving size and therefore not underestimating the calories (or points or whatever). Sometimes, eating too much of even healthful foods can cause weight loss to stall out.

I do weigh and measure everything. I noticed the only time I lose is if I eat like nothing, like under 1000 calories. If I eat over 1200 I gain, which makes it seem like my metabolism is totally shot, but how do I get it back? which ww plan do you do? my parents lost weight on the one where do you don't count points but I don't like that plan, it's too restrictive. I need to be able to eat a cookie once and a while, lol.

I've always done the points (now it's points plus) on WW. They introduced the Simply Filling technique where you don't count points after I was already at goal. That plan focuses on eating "power foods" (really just fruits, veggies, lowfat dairy, lean protein, and whole grains) and "eating til satisfied," (whatever that means, lol!). I far prefer the structure of counting points, and like you, I like a variety of foods. But you can eat non-power foods, like a cookie, on the Simpky Filling plan. You just count points for it (I think it's 49 points a week to break up how you want).
Even on the points plan, I do try to eat mostly the "power foods" as they are more filling. I do t really count points now, since I am in maintenance, but I do still try to go to weekly meetings and weight myself every couple of days (to avoid creeping weight gain).
Eating 1000 calories per day seems really low, unless you are super tiny to begin with. Have you checked with your doctor to make sure there's nothing else at issue (like a thyroid problem?).
I am sure exercise will rev up your metabolism a bit. I also always had better weight loss if I varied my calories a bit instead of eating the same amount per day consistently. So for example, in WW, if I had 26 pts per day and 49 extra weekly points, I did better if I broke them up (like added 8 pts one day for a dessert or a couple if glasses of wine, then went back to 26 pts for a few days, then used an extra 30 pts on a weekend, etc) versus just consistently eating 26 pts (or even adding 7 per day for 33 pts). It seemed to rev up my metabolism to vary the intake a bit, kind of like how interval training is recommended for cardio exercise.

I did mfp to lose the weight after having my son. It worked for me but I was hungry a lot and was not eating the right food. After I had my daughter I wanted to try something else. My friend got me into 21 day fix. I loved it! It comes with an eating plan and the workouts are only 30 minutes.
