Need Help-Cooking Steaks

We were given Omaha Steaks as a gift. We're not big beef eaters, and I've actually never made steaks myself. We have 2 top sirloin steaks and 2 filet mignon steaks.

What's the easiest way to make them? Should I marinate, or season?

Help!

Re: Need Help-Cooking Steaks

I love pioneer woman's recipe for Filet au Poivre. It's not on her site, but here's a link.

I prefer to use her method of searing and throwing in a hot oven until desired temp. It works best for me. I also take the steak out and let it sit out for 30-mins to an hour before cooking.

I wouldn't marinate a filet. I've never actually cooked a sirloin, but I wouldn't marinate it.

If you have a cast iron pan, this recipe works nicely and it's super easy. Just get the pan super hot and make sure your oven is preheated. Sear the meat in some butter for about 45 seconds a minute a side and then pop it in the oven. Let the meat rest for 5 mins. You can make your sauce then. It's yum!
