Need help on deciding whether to bring the dogs to NY or not....

we'd be travelling with 2 dogs (a rottie and a puggle) AND a 6 month old baby. The rottie made the trip when we moved to GA from NY and the few times we've had the puggle in the car, he needs to be on top of one of us and won't settle down.

We are driving 8 hrs to VA, staying overnight and then on to NY.
Then in NY, if we stay at the IL, there will be 5 dogs, 2 kids, 1 baby, and 5 adults (WAY too much going on for baby let alone the dogs). If we stay at my parents, they are unsure if their adopted dog has ever been around another dog.

We are seriously debating leaving them home with our friend. I would miss them so much, but I think it might be better for them to just stay home.

i love my doggies sooo much and love to take them everywhere they are my babies.... but it sounds like you may enjoy yourself a little bit more and be a little more relaxed if they are home with a friend.

I would leave them home. Especially if the puggles gets antsy in the car, you would not want him to hurt the baby.

Plus it may be very stressful for the dogs, so they would be happier staying behind. I know it is hard but if you have someone you trust, then they will be fine.

It does sound like a bit much to take them with you. How long will you be gone for?

I'd leave them - for as much as you hate to do it, that will be alot of confusion for you (and them - they might even be totally stressed out themselves)
Besides, you don't want to have to be worrying about keeping the dogs under control while trying to care for your baby !!

If you have someone to take care of them and they know and trust your friend, I would leave them. It would be way more stressful for them to make the ride up and stay in a house with other animals than to stay in a familiar environment with someone they know.
Good luck with whatever you decide.
