Need help/opinions for sick baby
So Thursday DS woke up with a 102.8 fever. Nothing else....no diarreah, no vomitting, no loss of appetite. Took him to the dr that same day and she said it may just be a virus but she wanted to check his urine...so she put a baggie thing on him to collect his urine to check for a UTI. I would then have to take it to a lab. Stupid bag thing didnt work and his fever the next day (Friday)was still bouncing between 100 and 102. Saturday his fever wasnt as high (around 101) but we went back to the Dr. and she said that if his fever went up to 102.8-103 we should take him to the hospital so that they could insert a catheter to collect his urine. I was like . I really dont want my poor baby to endure the pain of a catheter Yesterday his fever was bouncing between 99-100. And same for today. I stopped at the Dr. after I dropped ds off with my mom to get more of those bags to try again to collect his urine again....and i told the nurse I was really uncomfortable about the whole catheter thing. WWYD? Thoughts? I'm just so confused. I'm hoping this is just a virus and it will pass but its been over 4 days now and he still has fever although not as high as when it first started. Have you ever heard of such extremes (catheter) of collecting urine for a 10 month old b/c of a fever? It just sounds so extreme to me .....ugghhh all the more reason I think its time to look for a new Dr.

I understand what you mean.. a catheter isn't pleasant in any way.
I'm more concerned about the fever though.. if that's due to something serious. I'd want to know immediately.. I would just try and see if you can collect it on your own again and if you can't then talk to the pediatrian about it..
