Need help tonight--Breastfeeding question: Did I fill her belly?
So I posted over the past few weeks that DD didn't really want to latch and when I pumped I wasn't getting much.
Well, we have been seeing a LC and the past week has gotten better and this weekend I didn't even need to lead DD onto the breast with formula.
I nursed DD a lot today but also supplemented with formula, but at 8:30 I nursed her for 40 minutes and she went to sleep and is still sleeping.
Stupid question: did I fill her belly? Would she be crying if she was still hunrgy? I am having a hard time believing I gave her enough to fill her up and make her sleep. Do babies always cry when they are hungry or will some sleep?
I am so clueless

Re: Need help tonight--Breastfeeding question: Did I fill her belly?
Thanks for the reassurance. She did wake up and wanted to eat and I had to give her a supplemental bottle but this morning she didn't need as big of a supplement after she nursed.
Tomorrow I am going to the LC to see how much she is actually getting and maybe she isn't always hungry but she wants a pacifier after she nurses.
After a month, we are finally getting the hang of this nursing thing. Wouldn't it be funny if I wean her off of bottles just in time to get her back onto them for when I go back to work?

Re: Need help tonight--Breastfeeding question: Did I fill her belly?
Keep in mind not all babies wake to eat. This is unfortunately a myth in a sense. Our ped told us that when they are very young they can sleep themselves right into dehydration. My DD would sleep 4 or 5 hour stretches b/w meals which was may have been ok for her but not ok for my supply so just be careful. If she doesn't wake every 2-3 hours and you don't want to wake her make sure you pump instead I guess would be my advice so you don't get into trouble the way I did.

Sunday night I was worried when she slept 5 hours. I thought I was supposed to get up and pump or something. When I spoke to the LC, she said after one month (which was Saturday) Sabrina can sleep longer and pretty much knows when she is full and my milk supply will adjust to when she wants to eat.
