Need help w/ area rug - swatch added!
I need to get an area rug for my family room...
But the problem is that I have a paisley couch (it has brown, dark red and green in the pattern). I am looking for the pattern online but can't find it - ugh!
What color / pattern area rug should I put up against the couch?!? It is going on light natural colored wood floors and the other furniture in the room is dark wood.
Please Help! Signed, Clueless Decorator
ETA: Here is a pic of the pattern of my sofa (but I think it is brighter/busier in person)...

What color are your walls? Any other accent colors/furniture in the room?

Re: Need help w/ area rug
depending on how much brown is in the couch I think brown would be nice....or you can always go with a neutral beige.
If the paisl design is on the smaller side, i am sure you could do a patterned rug, but its hard to say without seeing the fabric....
I just got an e-mail that Pottery Barn outlet is having a 50% off sale on all their rugs this weekend.....

My walls are Benjamin Moore Desert Tan... Here is a pic of the color. I also have a dark brown leather accent chair in the room. No coffee table ottoman yet - I want one but I am still searching!

I prefer solid rugs with printed furniture like in the pic you posted with the paint color.
I would do a light solid light beige rug.

But I guess I am worried that a light solid rug will show a lot of dirt / lint?

I would use light solid color. I know a light color would show dity alot but I do have a light color in my den and no one wears shoes on it.

I wouldn't go light for various reasons...it shows every spec of dirt and it will seem off-balanced with the rest of your darker pieces.
I would go with something that has reds or rust in it. That first rug that belladi posted would look nice.

I agree with pulling out the red color & getting a rug maybe with texture instead of a print.
Something like this maybe, but I'm not sure if this is the right red--maybe something darker.

I cant' really see the swatch well, but it looks like a small print - I think if you go with a bigger print, like some of the ones posted, it will be ok I wouldn't go w/ something too light or solid -

Re: Need help w/ area rug - swatch added!
you can mix most patterns as long as the rug doesnt over power your couches, or look too busy. I wouldnt go with a solid color, unless you really like it...i think thats kinda boring. Decorators say to pull the LEAST prevelent color in the couch to match a rug, so by the looks of your couch, i would go for a patterned rug that is mostly dark red.
