Need help w/ wording for holiday card- family drama related
I may delete this later, so please don't quote! Thanks!
My dad's sisters have not spoken to him in over two years, for reasons that are silly, IMO. This year they did send my folks Christmas cards, so I am hopeful. I'm not all that close with my aunts anyway, and out of loyalty to my dad I haven't been in touch except to send holiday cards.
My nana (their mom) is in a nursing home (part of the drama) and she knows that we are expecting, so I am sure my aunts know through her. But she's forgetful, and thought the baby was due any day, which isn't the case.
So I need to write out cards today and I want to let my aunts know about the baby (not looking for gifts, just want to let them know) but I really don't know how to word it. Thanks for any help.

I typed up a separate announcement in ours...
Coming March/April 2007
The ******* Twins
I attached two Level II pics each of each twin and labeled them boy and girl.

I think this is appropriate.
It lets them know the news but isn't overly mushy or sentimental since you aren't that close to them.

I agree.
I tend to think less is more. And thats just the appropriate amount of acknowledgement in my opinion.

Hopefully this is for immediate family only.
Otherwise this is IMO ( after dealing with Infertility for 2 years) inappropriate and a little overkill on the announcement end.

As you very well know I dealt with infertility as well. I find it strange why my sensitivity on the subject would be called into question... and it has been called into question by a few posters on this site who barely know me.
Everyone is entitled to his or her opinion. Of course we considered it. We are the ones who know our friends and family best.
To the original poster, please feel free to write whatever you feel comfortable. After all, they are your cards to your family and friends.

T,
Of course you know your family and friends best.
I just wonder if this were a year ago when you were struggling, how you would have felt to receive a sonogram pic in a Christmas Card.
I guess if you know for CERTAIN that none of them are struggling with infertility and you are comfortable with it, it's your perogative.
I guess it just surprises me, because I would never dream of doing that.
But that's just me.
PS - Sorry for the hijack, Tracy!!

this may sound corny, but i remember when my mom was PG w/ my sister, she signed cards "Moms name, dads name, Janine and Baby '?'"
(she was also due in March).
sorry you have to deal with this

Your sensitivety wasnt called into...I was stating my opinion, that I thought it was much if not for immediate family.
Since you did very well deal with infertility was the reason I found this a bit much to share with others.
But ultimately, Im sure you will do as you please, and mine was an opinion only.

Re: Need help w/ wording for holiday card- family drama related
I signed all of our cards Lori, Tom and ?
I send out about 60 cards and I don't speak to all of those people on a regular basis, so I thought this was the easiest way to let them know. (Someone sent me a card signed like that last year and I loved the idea.)
So, if you don't want to get into too much detail because you're not all that close, you can keep it simple, and still let them know.

I honestly would not say anything about the baby..I would just send out your regular card. You do not speak with this Aunt so I wouldn't worry about the update. JMO, of course. It may make her upset if she is not included in your shower or other events.
