Re: Need help with a decision..family related
Without knowing the background of the feud btw you and SIL, it's hard to say. Will your MIL be there? Other family members that will be there? I would go, anyway. You would probably have a good time regardless. And whenever you get bored, just play with your beautiful baby!!

Just me, SIL, and the other cousin (aside from the cousin who is throwing the party.)

I would go. Why keep DS away from his cousins? Just avoid talking to her.

Re: Need help with a decision..family related
It seems like it would be pretty hard with no one else there to talk to...
if you can just play w/baby & kids and ignore the rest, then go...otherwise don't
It depends upon the person, me personally, don't think I could go if I was on non speaking terms w/someone....but if you guys can pretend for the sake of the party, then go
Sorry, it sounds like a icky situation either way

Re: Need help with a decision..family related
Since I have a SIL with whom I barely speak. (If I had my way I would never with the things she has said about me, but I do it for my DH and FIL)
I have to say that I can completely feel your pain. If it was me I probably wouldn't go, even though I know I should.

I'd go and be the bigger person. If you feel uncomfy - you can blame it on DS that you have to leave.

Kris, I know how hard this must be. Ugh, as much as I hate to say this, I would try to go. At least you have Daniel there to keep you busy. This way she can NEVER say anything against you for avoiding family functions. She is a beast and you will be the bigger person by bringing that adorable little boy to see his family.

WOW Bubbs looks like you adn I have the same issue with our SIL's. She's just evil to no limit, it all started after DH and I got engaged too....Personally I would not go. If you despise your SIL as much as I despise mine, I can't even bare to be in the same room as her. I would not go.

Re: Need help with a decision..family related
I feel horrible about the decision I made, I am in a similiar boat.
DH's family is a nightmare.
BIL is okay...he lives in Kentucky(army) his wife is pregnant, shower is this month in FL. He has 2 girls from prev marriage, wife has one. all these girls LOVE josh. so good with him.
I am also new baby's godmother. We were invited to stay at SIL's mother's house. beautiful, screened in pool...would have been fun.
DH wasn't going to go, Just me and Josh.
I declined after going back and forth forever.
I hate my MIL and her daughter. HATE them.
I don't want to be in the room with them. I don't want to make anyone else uncomfortable.
its a shame, Josh would have had a great time.

Re: Need help with a decision..family related
Personally I wouldn't go. I hate going to parties and being uncomfortable. I'd rather stay home and see them another time with a gift
