Need help with surprise party invitation
Ok, I haven't finalized details yet or even the bar, but I found the invitation I want and need help with the wording.
I know I want to write "Shhh....It's a Surprise!" on th pretzel part. But not sure what to write on the mug. I thought of two versions:
OPTION 1 Please join us for cheers and beers celebrating Tyler’s 30th
Saturday, August XXth 7-10 p.m. Stinger’s Pub Rockville Centre, NY
Open bar & appetizers
Regrets only by August XXth to Crissy (cell phone only) (516) XXX-XXXX
PLEASE DON'T BE LATE!
OR OPTION 2 Let's share a few rounds celebrating Tyler’s 30th Birthday
Saturday, August XXth 7-10 p.m. Stinger’s Pub Rockville Centre, NY
Open bar & appetizers
Regrets only by August XXth to Crissy (cell phone only) (516) XXX-XXXX
PLEASE DON'T BE LATE!
And what about the "Please don't be late"??? Does that sound rude? You would think it is a given that people would know to be on time for a SURPRISE party but from past experience I know this doesnt always happen Should I write it at the end or after the time or is there a 'nicer" way to ask for people to be their on time?
ETA: Do you think it's a good idea to also include "open bar and appetizers"?

Re: Need help with surprise party invitation
Share some memories & a pint
Please join us for an open bar & appetizers for Tyler's 30th Birthday!
Saturday, August XXth 7pm (SHARP!)-10 p.m. Stinger’s Pub Rockville Centre, NY
Regrets only by August XXth to Crissy (cell phone only) (516) XXX-XXXX and [email protected]
I dont' know that the open bar & appetizers are necessary to write but it alleviates an dinner expectation.

You could just say "See you at 7:00 PM SHARP!
Good idea to say appetizers & open bar so that people know not to expect dinner!
The one thing though, those "regrets only" confuse people. DH aunt tried that for a baby shower & most people didn't call so she had no idea if people understood it.....JMHO.....it was a NIGHTMARE for her...........

Re: Need help with surprise party invitation
On the pretzel part, I would write "SHHH! It's a Surprise! (Don't be late!)"
On the invite, I would write,
So-and-So's Turning 30!
Please join us for drinks and appetizers on DATE
at BAR
I've also seen people have issues and confusion with "Regrets Only" -- You just don't know who may not be coming that just didn't call. (People are SO RUDE about RSVPing)

Agreed...the regrets only thing is bad b/c sometimes the mail doesn't get there and you'll think they are coming when they just never got the invitation.

peopole are the worst about RSVP! so i would def not write regrets only.....at least in my family i like the second wording, and i dont think dont be late is rude!

Re: Need help with surprise party invitation
Let's share a few suprises nd a couple of rounds celebrating Tyler’s 30th Birthday
Saturday, August XXth 7-10 p.m. Stinger’s Pub Rockville Centre, NY
Open bar & appetizers
PLease contact********** (***) ***-**** If unavailable to attend
On the pretzel I would put "Shh..........it's a suprise"
Def put the open bar and app because this helps people to plan and know what to expect. Perhaps they will go out to dinner first and not expect that and they also know what is offered and helps them plan financialy. I think it's a great idea!!!
