need hospital rec and ob/gyn change!
i just had my oh-so-fun yearly gyn appt. we are not TTC yet, but since i only see her once a year, i asked a few questions. turns out, she doesn't do ob anymore
i don't have any friends in the area to ask for recommendations, so i'm turning to you guys!
i'm in lynbrook....what hospital should i look at?? i haven't heard wonderful things about mercy from patients (family members) that had nothing to do with their obstetrics.
so should i look at mercy? south nassau? any others??
and recommendations for doctors? i do NOT want to go to someone who is too popular because i refuse to wait months for an appt.
feel free to FM me if you don't want to post!

My sister used DR. Guzman in Rockville Centre and delivered at Mercy. She liked her alot.

I had a positive experience at Mercy-infact my DD would not be here if not for the docs there. I see Dr. Robert Griggs in East meadow. He is AMAZING!Dr.GRIGGS

I agree about Mercy and South Nassau.
I like Winthrop and delivered my son there. Next I think I will try North Shore cause my ob gave up his practice. I have several names of good mds there. If you like them, FM me.

I would concentrate on the Doc first. having a good hospital is nice but the Doc is more important. I had a doc who was affiliated with well known hospital and he almost cost us our daughter.

I don't know, I think hospital is just as important as doc. YOu want to make sure they have good facilities incase there is a problem for you or baby. Winthrop has great nicu. N.S.U.H. Manhasset is all round good, except I heard there management is going downhill, so staff may not be too happy.

agreed. I would find a good doc and make sure he/she is affiliated with a good hospital as well . Doesnt matter if the hospital is good if the doc doesnt utilize the services the hospital offers .
So please make sure its a combination of doc and hospital not either or as everyone's experience is different.
Winthrop facilities I heard is great. I also heard good things about NSUH. LIJ I am not a fan-actually left them to go to Mercy and I was extremely high Risk.
another factor is insurance carrier-the quality of care can vary based upon your insurance plan.

agreed. my first [and awful] dr. had one thing going, he used SEVERAL hospitals...one of them being for high-risk pregnancies. my new dr. only uses the hospitals that support high risk so I actually feel reassured that things will move smoothly.

Winthrop is located in Mineola. Just North of Old Country Rd.
