Need HR/Maternity Leave/FMLA Advice
I going out on Maternity/FMLA leave in July and I am scheduled to come back to work in Mid- October. As of right now, I do not plan on coming back to work.
How should I resign in October?
TIA!

You don't want to burn your bridges, so I would suggest you schedule a meeting with your boss and tell him/her that you don't plan on returning. I don't know what your work situation is like now so it's hard to give advice on how to handle this situation. In any case, good luck!

I would definately NOT do this. If you quit before your maternity leave, you will not get disability pay. I would wait until 2 weeks before you are scheduled to come back and then tell them. I had to come back but that is how everyone else at my job handled it.

I didn't mean for her to do this before going out on leave (I would NEVER recommend that anyone do this). I meant for her to do this after her FMLA was up or right before her intended return date was.
editted to say that the poster of this thread's initial question was how to tell them she wasn't going to come back in OCTOBER, after she had already had the baby, and October being the month when she was due to return to work.

I would say wait until all of your paid time off is used up before even considering to discuss not returning. For now, just let everyone know that you are not sure what your plans are.

Re: Need HR/Maternity Leave/FMLA Advice
send a resignation letter during the last few weeks of your leave.
I had a co-worker that did that once she had her twins.
