What can I include in a social studies center for 2nd Grade?

maybe one of those big piece puzzle boards where the kids put the puzzle pieces (The US states) together to complete the puzzle (THE USA)

for first grade i try to use that center as a way to have the kids do fun stuff regarding holidays or an extension of a lesson. At least its a way to have them do something"fun" since in NYC the word is not in their vocabulary! haha
Like we had them create large drawings of the nina pinta and santa maria, they had to look at pictures in books.
