Need Ideas on what to bring a friend who just had a baby!
I did a search before posting this, and MANY suggested food. I checked out the EdibleArrangement site and it's just more than I can really afford right now.
I want to bring her a gift when I go visit tomorrow. She had the baby today via c/s and she is my mom's best friend's daughter (who I have known almost my whole life). This is her first baby and I really want to visit her in the hospital (1) b/c my mom is not here (she lives in IL) and (2) I am not sure I will be able to visit her at home for a while (we're moving)
TIA!!
I want something good-but not food or flowers-just something I can bring for her.

One of the gifts that I appreciated most was a gift just for me. A friend brought me a new pair of pj's. It was just so sweet. So I think either that or a nice pair of slippers....just something so she feels like she is important too.

What about a book like "What to Expect the 1st year" or one of the books about developing good sleeping habits (I dont know the titles off hand).
Or maybe a $25 gift certificate to get a manicure and pedicure at a salon near where she lives if you know any places.

one of the best things I got was a GC to outback and another one for pizza hut.
It was nice when we were at home, Leo went and picked them up to go.

I just went to visit a new mom yesterday and I brought her a pound cake, vanilla ice cream, strawberries and blueberries. I figured it would be nice and refreshing for her, and it could also help her out when she has visitors.

Like the others said, I'd bring something for the mom (maybe a sweet book about motherhood, or a week by week baby book) & also a gift certificate to a restaurant & a certificate saying you'll watch her baby...that will be most appreciated (although right now she doesn't realize this

How about a journal so she can write down all the feedings and diaper changes that we are all obsessed with in the beginning???
Someone also brought me a book of stamps and some blank note cards. I thought that was really thoughtful.

stamps and notecards is a good idea too! she won't have time to run out to the store to take care of that so that'd be good! I know that's something I would have appreciated .

This is a great idea. I always bring diapers with me because you can never have enough. I've made sauce and froze it for 2 seperate people and have given them that with a box or 2 of pasta and they really appreciated it because all the DH's had to do was boil water and defrost.
Maybe a calendar of the baby's first year instead of baby book. Everyone needs a calendar and it is easier to keep track if it is right their in front of you.

When I had my c-section, I loved when people brought me magazines, Bath and Body Works sprays and shower Gels and candy.
When I got home, my BFF brought me a tray of home made ziti.. It was great.
You know what she will need a lot of... thank you cards and stamps. The gifts just keep rolling in and it is hard to keep up.

I agree my aunt and uncle came over the other night and they brought a huge box of diapers. I greatly appreciated it.
