Need lighting fixture help

Hi,
We are moving into an older house - all of the fixtures are old and in need of replacing.
There are 2 in the kitchen. 1 is over a small kitchen nook area that we will have a table that seats 4 people. The other fixture is just in the middle of the kitchen. These are the only 2 lights.
The kitchen is all white. White tile and cabinets. Light wood floor. I am having walls painted BM Woodlawn Blue.
The cabinet knobs are currently black and current fixtures are silver and clear glass. The silver is all rusted otherwise they are definitely my taste but need replacing.
The knobs are awful I plan on switching them out for new ones.
What all is supposed to match? Knobs and light fixtures should be the same? The sink faucet is silver and I'm not changing that.
I'm stressing over choosing the right fixtures and honestly don't even know should I be getting black, bronze or silver?
A friend told me it should match the cabinet hardware.
I also need to buy a kitchen table so I'm not sure if it will be white or wood.

Design is not my specialty so any help would be appreciated!

I would generally think that if you are getting some type of metal for the pulls that they should match the sink and the light fixtures. But, you could get wood pulls or another material so that you don't have so much matching metal. But, I also think black and silver go together. I just wouldn't mix different metal finshes.. like brushed metal and chrome.

We matched all the main metals in our house...we have oil rubbed bronze door handles and hinges, and stuck with that for our fixtures and other metal accents.
