Need paint color suggestion for main bathroom!
We have done nothing to our first floor (main) bath since we moved in. The wallpaper is driving me INSANE. It has been 2+ years I am looking at this wall paper every day, and I want to tear it off the walls and throw it in a fire.
Anyway... the tiles are a cream/bone color with natural-toned swirl. Very neutral. The wainscotting is also an off-white/bone color. I really would like to update the look a little bit and want to accomplish that by simply removing the wallpaper and painting that space. I'd prefer to avoid painting the wainscotting (namely because it obviously has been repainted many times). We will probably re-do the entire bath in a couple of years.
Suggestions for a paint color that will make the bathroom more updated?
Thank you!!
This pic is from before we moved in, but it is still the same now.

Re: Need paint color suggestion for main bathroom!
I just redid my guest bath. I added the wainscoting, though. The paint color I used is by Martha Stewart called Salt Glaze. It's a light blue with more of a subtle grey undertone. The mirror in the bath is from reclaimed wood with neutral tones which really looks nice with the paint color. Pics are in my album if you'd like to take a look. I'm not so good at posting them, lol.

either pale yellow or a fun tangerine orange (if you want to go so bold)

with the bone colored tiles and wainscotting you could really do any color. I tend to be more of a neutral person so my first thought was to go with a nice blue-ish gray. I really like BM stamped concrete. If you want more of a brighter color, I like the suggestion of the pp for tangerine

also, we have a bathroom that we plan on doing over in the next year or so but our tub has sliding glass doors as well. I put up a really nice shower curtain infront of the doors and it really helped with giving the bathroom a more updated look and bring in some other colors. Just an idea

I don't think that would work without the tub though...? It's just a stall shower we have (which I also loathe and want to smash to bits).
Thanks for the suggestions everyone!
ETA: the adjacent rooms are a pumpkin color, a pale yellow, and 1/2 saybrook sage

We didn't actually take down the doors though, we kept them up and still use them but put the shower curtain infront of them so its visually more appealing. We just open the curtain and then the tub doors when we shower. I figured people didn't need to see the ridiculous amount of gold fixtures in my bathroom! I would take your wallpaper any day over our gold fixtures!

Oh I meant I don't think it would work bc the shower curtain wouldn't be long enough to cover the doors? I don't know. I'm not very smart. Also, you can keep your gold fixtures!

ooooh....now I get what you meant! Sorry, I confused it! My friend actually has the same exact shower as yours and put up the curtain and it worked so it might work if you want to try it out. You only really see the lower lip of where the shower stall.
Okay...if I can't interest you in gold fixtures....perhaps a 1993 out of service almond colored whirlpool tub? (you now know why i have up a curtain)

Re: Need paint color suggestion for main bathroom!
We painted our bathroom a really nice neutral gray that's a tiny bit darker. It really helped make the bathroom look so much more elegant.

Re: Need paint color suggestion for main bathroom!
I just painted our guest bath BM Mount Saint Anne an I love it. It will look dark, but its nice. It's a really pretty blue with a gray undertone. I also love BoothsBay gray which will look gray on the swatch but really comes out a nice blue.

We painted most of our first floor Revere Pewter and I LOVE it. It looks great against the white mouldings.

I recommend this color to everyone, it is just my favorite all-time color - Florentine Plaster by BM. It's a very neutral grey/light green happy color. GORGEOUS!

Re: Need paint color suggestion for main bathroom!
We just reglazed our bathroom...we did half white, half Benjamin Moore Bunny Gray. It's such a difference! I have to post pics on here of the finished product. The Bunny Gray was perfect for us because it's light but not too light where it's borderline white. But not too dark (bathroom is small, don't need it to feel any smaller!)
Here's a pic of the color swatch, although looking at colors on the computer don't always translate into what it looks like fo' realz.

By the sound of it, you are not afraid of color, right? Go Dramatic..a dark brown or deep red and hang some interesting artwork there. It will take the eye away from the rest of the stuff. I would do coordinating color towels and a shower curtain. You can hang the shower curtain rod at any height you want as most of them are tension rod type. Here's a longer shower curtain that should let you hide the showerhead too http://www.bedbathandbeyond.com/1/1/53309-sierra-copper-54-x-78-fabric-shower-stall-curtain-by-manor-hill.html Sorry to go off-topic on you but I feel picking paint is easier when you have other elements in the room. HTH!

I would go in the blue family to keep it bright. I also like how blue looks with white and silver since you have silver hardware in there.

A greige color if you want to remain neutral and bring in color with towels and such.
I'd do a cornflower blue personally.
