Need rec for pediatric GI - WITH NEW QUESTION
I've know DS has a dairy & soy allergy since 6 weeks old (I EBF). Then we figured out he was allergic to eggs a month later. Now I suspect he has an allergy to almonds The GI I saw 2 months ago told me to go ahead and give my DS the milk I had frozen that has soy in it, knowing that it causes his intestines to bleed!!! What kind of doctor suggests that?
My ped doesn't think it's necessary to see a GI, but I think this problem is beyond their scope of knowledge. Can anyone recommend a good pediatric GI that is supportive of BFing? TIA!

Dr. Gold in Babylon. Excellent physician! He spends a lot of time with each patient and returns calls quickly as well. Such a nice man. He really helped our DS.

Dr. Melanie Greifer at Cohen Children's Medical Center at LIJ. She saw Jeremy just a couple of weeks ago. EXTREMELY thorough and I am sure she would support a breastfeeding mother as she mentioned she nursed her own kids during our visit.

Re: Need rec for pediatric GI
I BF DS with dairy/soy allergy. I saw one GI doctors at Good Sam and he was very insistent that the diet changes would not work and that I should switch to formula. Dr. Gold is in this group too, but I'm not sure if he has the same feelings on BF as the Dr. I saw. I don't want to publicly name the Dr. I saw because he is good doctor and I liked him, but did not agree with his advice. I switched to Dr. Weinstein at LIJ and she was much more supportive of BF. She is very thorough and really listens to your concerns.
Congrats for sticking to BF on such a strict diet. It's not easy!

Totally love Dr. Weinstein at Schneiders-LIJ. Aidan has been seeing her since he was 5 weeks old. She is great. Very compassionate and listens to what I have to say. We will being going back next month for a check up..
