Need Room Set-up Opinions/Advice/Ideas

We are moving next month and have already started setting my my DD's new room.

We primed yesterday and I'll be painting tomorrow while she's at school!! Chat Icon

Anyway, DH and I disagree with how we should set up the furniture.

I made 2 very basic drawings on paint, and am looking for opinions/advice/ideas.

Thanks ladies! You always have great ideas!

I would go with drawing #1 soley for the reason to keep the bed away from the window (prevent climbing out or leaning on the window)

It was hard to make the picture exactly to scale. The wall is 12 foot long so very little of the bed would be in front of the window. How long is a twin bed? Looking at the room in person it looks like it would fit.

I agree....but if the bed doesn't really bring the bed near the window...I like #2 better.

I like the set up of 2 better but if ANY of the bed is near the window I would not do it without window guards. I don't like the set up of my daughter's bed but I won't put it under the window (Which would look better) for safety reasons

I think probably about half a foot of it will overlap. What do you mean by window guards? Do you mean window bars, like they have in the city? I know they are brand new windows and there are these pieces that you put in so you can only open the window so much. I don't know what more I could do though, aside from window bars.

I like number two better and she will get a better cross breeze with the bed in the corner there. Also, in pic #1 you might have an issue with the pillows falling off the bed if you don't have a headboard.

I also think that she would be more sensitive to sounds in the hallway being right by the door. It might be awkward walking into the bed immediately when you walk in the door (it is hard to tell from the pics exactly how much room there will be).

there is a wall behind the bed there. It's not a perfect rectangular room. There is a small area where the door is, like a cutout ofthe room.

Wow I never thought of this. DD's bed isn't under a window but the thought honestly never crossed my mind. Good to know.

I like #2 better.

I like 2 better. I like walking into the room and seeing the bed on the far wall.

Yes like in the city. Those 3 foot locks are still dangerous because she could stick her neck n the window and get stuck

#2 as long as the bed isn't under the window.
