I don't have a recommendation but just wanted to let you know I had to get a root canal during my 2nd trimester. I had a great Oral Surgeon here in NYC; she was so patient with me. I was also VERY nervous about having any dental work during during the pregnancy. I don't take Tylenol; I was against the drugs necessary to numb me!

I had to use Lidicaine (sp) without epinephrine (sp); I ended up having two appointments; because she was concerned I might start to feel some pain (since the non epinephrine drugs wear off faster). My last appointment was at 26w5 days. I would have preferred to wait until after the baby was born; but they were afriad the pain would get worse and the tooth would get infected if I let anymore time go by.

Good Luck!

Dr Richard Marcus.

BEST of the BEST.

I was terrified I was going to need root canal. Everyone who has had RT by him was like "meh, he was DONE in 7 min".

Best.

I can recommend an oral surgeon but he would only do an extraction, not a root canal. I've had a loooooot of dental work and usually oral surgeons do extractions and apicos while endodontists do root canals.

If you end up needed the extraction, I'd recommend Dr. Michael First of Suffolk Oral Surgery. They have offices all over including in Brentwood (also in Smithtown, East Northport and Smithtown - I've seen him at all the locations!). His partner Dr. Jonke is great too.
