Need some advice...

I teach a freshman seminar course at St. John's. If you've seen the news, we've had quite an eventful day on campus....

How should I deal with the class on Friday morning? The gunman was apprehended down the hall from my classroom.

Wow....

i would definitely talk about it....i think it would be a good oppurtunity to talk about safety on campus. perhaps they have suggestions to make the campus safer? i would be proactive with them rather than reactive.

Also, be sure you have contact info. for offices and people you can refer students to (i.e. counseling, dean, etc.)

Thanks! The class was this morning, and most of the students were ok. One student who had decided not to come in yesterday because she was nervous, still seemed a little uncomfortable.

Ironically, each student has to present on a campus resource, and today's resource was the counseling center.
