Need some advice/help on how to plan for the munchkin...

without knowing the sex. The gear, furniture - all that stuff is fine but I am concerned about clothing. We are going to put two sets of bedding on the registry with the intention of buyingit ourselves once we know. DH promised to run out from the hospital if necessary. Chat Icon But - I am driving myself crazy with clothing. I have to have something for the munchkin and not just a few things but enough to hold us over until I am recoved enough to shop again. So, I was thinking of getting some things for both boy and girl in sizes 3-6 months...but wanted to get some advice from everyone here. What would you suggest I do?

3-6 months is way to big for a newborn. I would get a few neutral steches and then may 2 of each gender and just return the other. I did need to go BRU on our way home from the hospital and I noticed a few other moms that I delivered with their aswell. You could always stop their on the way home. Dh stayed in the car with DS while I picked up what I needed. You also can get away with 6-10 pieces of clothing in the beginning because you will find that you change them often weather they soak through or the spit up which means you are doing alot of laundry. I also know that Babystyle sells some baby basics in solid colors and you can always go that route. It is a little pricey, I think it is 2 for $18.

We aren't finiding out the sex. Do what women used to do - buy gender neutral clothing. I bought adorable green, yellow, and white outfits -- some with winnie the pooh, or animal themes.

The child will have plenty of time to develop his or her sexuality.

I didn't know what sex I was having until I actually had her. I got TONS and TONS of girl clothing once she was born. If you have a bunch of friends and family, you will probably get lots of girl clothes as well. I wouldn't worry too much about it. Plus, my first outing after the baby was to buy her clothes which I really enjoyed doing.

ETA: I wouldn't buy too much in any size clothing because you won't know how big the baby is. If the baby is long, the baby probably won't fit into NB clothes and if you have a little peanut, the 0-3 months will be way too big.

We actually knew the gender but didn't tell anyone. There is a lot of generic out there and ppl bought us a lot of clothes anyway - just the right amount actually. If you FM me I can send you our registry...we also had a friend get us great stuff from baby gap.

I agree and everyone who comes to vist brings you a sex appropriate outfit, I think you should try not to worry so much about this.

We didn't know the sex of the baby until he arrived. I think the minute I had him, everyone ran out and bought boys clothing, blue onsies, blue blankets and toys. Besdies which, for the first couple of weeks, he was only in sleeper gowns.

One of the reasons I'm glad I didn't find out the sex with DD is because I didn't receive any girls' clothes at the shower! Chat Icon

We got a bunch of neutral stuff (which we can use in May no matter what the gender) at the shower and when she was born...forget it...we were DROWNING in PINK!!! So I actually think it works out better that way!

As for coming home outfit...I bought a gender-neutral one and brought that to the hospital, but my mom bought her an adorable little dress to come home in once I gave birth.

ETA...I didn't really buy any clothes for her until she was like 3 months old.
