Need some ideas please! I'm desperate!!

My girls are 27 months and 13 months, i have no car during the day and no backyard..
I'm running out of ideas for things to do during the day...

Can you guys help? Do you have any ideas/suggestions on what i can do INSIDE with the girls that both of them can partake in?

I can't do playdough or color too much cause my little one thinks those are food.

HELP! i'm bored, so i know they HAVE to be bored!!!

Did you watch Jon & Kate + 8 where they finger painted with Pudding??? It was really cute and the kids had lots of fun....

I also bought some cookie dough from Crayola that comes in different colors..the girls could do playdough with that and you dont have to worry about them eating it...

On rainy days I used to fill a small pool with just a smidge of water and put it in the kitchen.....they used to have tons of fun with that one..Or you can just put towels down and let them place with pots and pans with water etc..

Build a fort with the couch cushions or use chairs and blankets etc...

-make puppets & have puppet shows
-build lots of things out of blocks - the big cardboard ones are especially fun
-hold an indoor olympics - crawling races, obstacle courses, etc.
-build forts with blankets, etc.
-experiment with things that sink & float in a bucket
-make a zoo or a farm with stuffed animals
-line up chairs, get a hole punch & make tickets & play train

I found this on-line:

Create Critters and Things from Edible Clay:

To make the clay, you'll need:

1/2 cup peanut butter
1/2 cup honey1 cup dry non-fat milk solids
1 1/4 cup graham cracker crumbs

Combine all ingredients in a bowl. Mix well.

For eyes, ears, tails, hair, and other finishing touches, try using grated coconut, chocolate chips, banana or apple slices, carrot curls, celery slices, etc. For easy clean up, eat the results!

they have some cute projects you might be able to do

Hope these help!

Re: Need some ideas please! I'm desperate!!

when my boys were that age,
i
would build tents with them,
give them afternoon baths and throw in all kinds of toys -they'd play in there for hours!
and a bath always seemd to bring on that much needed nap!
we'd fingerpaint, paint on shells that we found at the beach,
(very messy btw!)
take them to the library-if you have one that is walking distance-this is my best discovery....free & they loved playing in the children's section

id take them for long walks around the neighborhood....
also- i found the book "the toddler's busy book" by trish kuffner to be a great tool for entertaining my kids in the house over a long winter!!!

Re: Need some ideas please! I'm desperate!!

My SIl is so creative with this stuff. I know a big thing with her girls is buiding things out of big boxes. Seriously she makes windows and flower boxes etc.. keeps my neices busy for hours. They also love puppets.

For non messy are you could try a couple peices of LARGE contact paper. One peice you put on the bottom, then you squirt the pain in blotches on it, then cover with another peice, and let them push the pain all around. It squishes and is fun, but no mess.

Re: Need some ideas please! I'm desperate!!

I love all of the ideas that everyone posted!

What about making necklaces with fruit loops/apple jacks/ cheerios? You can put tape on the end of yarn to make it easy to be threaded. ANd you don't have to worry about them eating them.

You can make all kinds of building blocks out of big boxes, shoe boxes (mom size and kiddi size), milk containers and you cut off the top triangle part, then fit two together so that it is all closed, use old plastic jars, etc. You can paint, decorate them and build huge cities in the living room and then drive matchbox cars through them!!

Let them play in the tub! You can use fingerpaints there --- or even the pudding, and then if it gets super messy you can just wash the whole thing down. Thy can paint the walls and eachother!!!

What town are you in? Do you have local parks/playgrounds or a local library to go to? We are in walking distance to the library and it's great. We go once a week --- they have tons of puzzles/games there --- we read books, color, she loves it. It kills a good hour and a half of our afternoon.
