Need some quick help...DD is crying/struggling to pass a stool ETA another question
My 21.5 month old normally has NO issues passing stools.
for the last hour she's been in Dh's arms, and crying/screaming every 10 mins or so saying poo poo potty and it won't come out. She's never done this.
I tried pushing vaseline up there, and some vaseline on thermometer. She still can't pass it.
What else can i do to help her ?
Please help.
Can I give her Miralax to help over the next couple days? if so, ANyone know the dose for a 22lbs?

Have you tried feeding her Stage 2 Prunes?
I gave that to DD once and she was litterally up to her armpits in poop!
I hope she feels better soon... being constipated is no fun!

Re: Need some quick help...DD is crying/struggling to pass a stool
DD has these issues. When she is straining to keep it in, I usually grab her and make her wrap her legs around my waist so it's a little easier. I have also taken her diaper off and put her on her back and when she's pushing, I push her knees up to her chest and spread her cheeks. .

My DD has this problem quite often. Usually I giive her prune juice per the doctors instructions (Sunsweet - the adult kind not the baby kind).
She had gotten so bad recently that her Ped had me start giving her mineral oil whicih is finally what worked.
Hope it gets better

Re: Need some quick help...DD is crying/struggling to pass a stool
THank you everyone for the tips
She just had another crying spell and we still can't get it to pass. I put her on the potty, i even put some more vaseline up there. I can feel from the outside it's right there and waiting.
I can't touch her legs she seriously locks them closed i'd have to use force to open them.
I feel so badly for her
Praying for a poop to pass

I do the same with DD as well. The thing is at this point prunes or juice wont help. If you can get to the store I highly recommend the Fleet babylax

Poor baby! Will she let you massage her tummy? You can apply pressure for a few minutes (I've use a warm washcloth - seems to help), a few inches below her belly button - you should be able to "feel" it.
I hope this is over soon!

I feel for you becuase I have been there many times with my DD, and it is so hard ot watch them in pain and be helpless.
My DD had taken Miralax/Glycolax on and off since she was 20 months old (around 25 lbs). She has always taken the 17gram dose, which is the full cup that comes with it by prescription. Her dr recommened using it for 1-2 weeks at a time to get her regular and get over the trama of it and not hold it in.

Exactly! I know if this one is hard to pass the next couple days are going to bad too.
Miralax has been my godsend for my fissures that only healed recently cause it from her birth.
She's having fruit for dinner. I'm going to give her miralax tonight with her milk, even though i don't want to give her dairy, at least i know the miralax with counter the binding effects of it.
Thank you so much It's so hard to see them in pain especially when I know exactly what that awful pain feels like.
Can i fm you if i have any questions? thanks again

Re: Need some quick help...DD is crying/struggling to pass a stool ETA another question
Feel free to FM any questions. I have been thru so much with DD relating to BMs and holding it in and have tried everything possible. Miralax is truly the only thing that has helped her and it really has no side effects so it is a godsend. Now at 3 we give her FiberSure everyday, but still have to use the miralax every now and again. The problem is that once it hurts them to go, they hold it in the next time and it gets worse.

OMG my DD had the same problem the other day! We called the pediatrician's office and the nurse recommended the Fleet Babylax and a half-capful of Miralax in 6-8 ounces of juice once a day, and wanted us to call back if she didn't pass the stool by the morning. I swear we used the Fleet Babylax and it was out within 5 minutes, no crying or anything (well, she was fighting us while I was "inserting" it but she had no struggle pushing the poop out).
ETA: My DD is a few months over 2, honestly I don't remember my DD's weight (I know bad mommy!), so I can't be sure that dose is good for your DD. You might want to make a call to your ped and get their recommendation.

the fleet worked within 5 mins!
I'm worried there's more up there, but it good to hear "mommy better poo poo potty" as she rubs her tummy
She just polished off 4oz of blueberries so at least i know those will work later
Thanks everyone for responding and the fms i really appreciate the help when we weren't getting any answers from family

Glad she is feeling better.

If you decide to use prune juice try warming it up. It works better that way. good luck.
