Need suggestions for my dining room (w/pics)
So now that I finally received the missing arm chair from my dining room table, I am ready to finish this room.
We are removing the ceiling fan and moving it into the living room. I would like to make this room look somewhat transitional/soft modern.
Here is a pic of my diningroom in its current state
Im at a loss as to what to do for curtains because the window is so high up. I plan on doing an area rug, Im just not sure what color. I was thinking maybe a shag green. Any thoughts?
Here are some lighting ideas I was thinking about but Im cant make up my mind. Which do you think look better? I am open to new ideas as well.
And lastly, I wanted to put up shelves like these in the wall opposite from the mirror but Im afraid it may be too much.
TIA for any suggestions!!

Pretty set. Have you thought about placing the table the other way? It may make the space look bigger. I would do panels for curtains that fall to the floor or right above. I like the idea of a rug, but I wouldn't put a shag rug in a dining room. I would put something that is not fluffy and easy to clean since people will be eating there. I think the shelves would look fine except they may over power the mirror since it's on the small side. Can you get a bigger one or put sconces on each side?

i would put some curtains up. maybe just panels with a scraf. I think greens in that room would look nice. add an area rug and some pictures on the wall and its going to look great.
I like the shelving idea. i dont know your house, but depending on how much room between the wall and the chairs of the table you may have to worry about putting things on the shelves that you may bump into.

I think panels with sheers draping over the top will be nice on the windows. A modern hanging light will be nice as well. I think those shelves would look great and think of all you can do with them! You can even spray paint them to make them softer, rather than that stark white.

i also love that third light but would personally go a little more "fancy" in your dining area. It depends how formal you want it to be. I also love the idea someone said about sconces around the mirror but i don't think I would do the shelves in a dining area. If I did, maybe something a little less thick, save those for your living area. I love your dining set

I tried to pick a color like that for my walls, home is being painted this week so i'm not sure if I picked well or not The color I used is "Shenandoah Taupe" by BM. I'll post pics when it's done.

Re: Need suggestions for my dining room (w/pics)
I really love this one and this one
Great transitional pieces.
As for the window, I would do panels on the outside of the window, not to block and light coming in and maybe sheers in the center. Hang them close to the ceiling (about a couple of inches down from the ceiling). It will make the window look larger & balanced it out.
And Sage would look great in this room.
Don't know how much space you have for those shelves. If you really want shelves I would go for a smaller shelf. They are called Picture Ledges. CaMacho has them right outside her bedroom. Very nice. Check out her album for the pics.
House is looking beautiful.
