Need Suggestions on a day in the city
DH is coming with me next Thursday to see David Cook at the Nokia Theatre.
What could we do during the day that isn't all that expensive?
We will be going to a late lunch early dinner in Times Square before the show. Usually we just walk around Times Square, but you can only do that so many times, I'm looking for something different!

There is the Titantic Exhibit @ Discovery in Times Square.
There is also The High Line - an elevated park on old train tracks in the Meat Packing District.
I love walking around Central Park & you can't go wrong with a museum IMO.

take the SI Ferry for free!! you can go to battery park while you are down there.

I was recently in the city and book one of the bus tours of midtown. It was so much fun! If you just stay on the bus it's about 2 hours and it takes you all over and tells you the history of the places. There was stuff that I never knew and I've been going to the city for years. It was a really good time!

Can't go wrong with a walk around central park, enter over by the Plaza hotel.
Governor's Island is a 5 minute ferry from the southern tip of Long Island
Top of the Rock is a sight everyone should see

i love walking around the village... or the upper west side. also i love the ferry idea and then battery park. city hall and wall street and all that is down there too so you could walk around there. i also love brooklyn heights and the promenade. just a quick subway ride from downtown.
