Need to Interview a SpEd Teacher.....
...any volunteers.....???
It is due on Sunday 6/27.....its an easy assignment; 300 word essay.
Here are the questions.... Describe the teachers’ positions on testing. What kind of informal and formal testing is used on a regular basis? Name the tests being used by each teacher? Does the testing appear worthwhile?
And possibly the grade you teach and number of students.....so I can add it to the paper.
Thanks sooooo much!!!

Re: Need to Interview a SpEd Teacher.....
I'll help! I hope it's not too late!
Describe the teachers’ positions on testing. The NYS assessments are not very special ed student friendly. The reason being is that most of my students (grade 4) are not on the reading level of the test and therefore just freak out. I know they can't pass the test before ever opening the booklet. But, my students are a statistic and they need to take it and fail to keep the bell curve accurate. I always tell them to do their best and not to worry about it. By the time the test rolls around, they don't take it seriously, as they shouldn't, b/c it's way above their level. Especially math - there's so much reading, it's just not fair! Most kids don't have "Tests Read" as an accommodation either, so it makes it hard for them to take the test.
What kind of informal and formal testing is used on a regular basis? Informal? None other than observation and classroom tests that the general ed teacher gives. Formal testing? Woodcock Johnson III once a year for annual reviews. We administer the fluency tests and any other subtests that address the students' disability.
Name the tests being used by each teacher? Does the testing appear worthwhile? Woodcock Johnson III. It's good, but not a true assessment of classroom learning. There's no real reading comprehension to bite your teeth into. I'm not a huge fan of it but don't hate it either.
And possibly the grade you teach and number of students.....so I can add it to the paper. I teach 4th grade co-teaching. I have 5 students integrated in a general ed. class of 20 students.
