Need to start supplementing/pumping- How many ounces for a newborn?
I am currently breastfeeding but want to possibly either supplement one formula bottle or do some pumping. I was unsure how much my DD actually takes in during feedings. She is a newborn, only 1 week old. How many ounces should I try per bottle?

Newborns have a pretty small stomach. I'd try 2 oz. at first and if she seems hungry, add an oz. at a time.

I *seem* to remember a rule of thumb of 2 1/2 times weight - 10 pounds = 25 ounces

My pediatrician told me it's *roughly* an ounce a week in the beginning.
Meaning 1 week old = 1 oz 2 weeks old = 2 oz ...and so on.
