I know.....sometimes we are obligated to do things and in return we dont get the respect or do ppl take on their responsibility they are suppose to.

Hopefully he will feel bad and apologize once he sees how adorable his godson is and how stupid he was for not calling and coming by to see him.

How old is he? I dont think he realizes that being a Godfather is a very special thing. But he did go visit his other nephew/neices and thats not right. I would say something. I agree with you being upset, i would be too.

ETA:Nevermind you posted age, didnt see it. 21 is older, I retract what i said about the Godfather, he should know how important it is.

how young is he, maybe he is so young that he does not realize what an honor it is to be chosen as someones godfather.

That being said, tell DH to say something to him, tell him that you both would like him to be a little more involved in Lucas life at least as much as he is in his other brothers' kids.

DS's godfather is an adult (DH's brother) and doesnt show much of an interest in DS either. I know how you feel

perhaps when he went to visit the other kids it was still early and you were still at work and Lucas was still in day care. Whatever it is, I don't think he did it deliberately. Maybe he just didn;t think about it. and if that is the case then someone nees to tell him that next time HE BETTER THINK ABOUT IT!

at 21, young men dont get it. at 31 they still dont get it, LOL. Perhaps he set days aside to spend with each of his nephews. and he knew he would see Lucas on thanksgiving. Maybe the week he is here from school he has many things to do, people to see ( friends and girls- remember being that age?) spent a day with 1 set of nieces/nephews, and spend thanksgiving with your DS. To him he probably sees it as he is still spending time with him even if it is a holiday/family gathering.
I dont think he doing it intentionally. Men show their enthusiam differently than us and I am sure he is happy to be the godfather, he is yet too young to understand the full responsiblities. Dont worry he will come around, especially when he becomes serious with someone.
See how it goes tomorrow before you get really mad. If he isnt paying much attention to lucas then call him out on it, put Lucas on his lap and say here honey this is your godfather spend some time with him- say it loud enough for the family to see and hear. Sometimes we need help clicking on that light bulb in our heads.

I totally feel your pain.

My older son's godparents are my husband's aunt and brother.

Haven't talked to the aunt in 3 years- she's dead to us.

Almost NEVER talk to the brother...maybe 3 times a year. He lives 10 minutes away.

I chose them as godparents as a favor to my MIL who was dying from cancer (she has since passed away). I am glad I was able to do that for her, but I feel bad for my son who has MIA godparents.

Eh...screw 'em.
