Needs recs for yard re-grading?

We have a problem with our backyard in that it drains towards the house. It's really bad in the wintertime when it snows...the water has come under the door and flooded our new mudroom and bathroom downstairs. We need to have the backyard graded so that the water drains away from the house. Has anyone ever had this done? Can you recommend anyone to come and give an estimate? We'd like to have it done this summer. TIA!

Re: Needs recs for yard re-grating (sp)?

Grading. You want to change the grade of the yard.

Luckily, I only have a little grading to do, so I'm doing it myself. It sounds like you have a lot of dirt to move, so that might be too much to do by hand....

FM SweetCin - she did this a year or so ago to her entire back yard. She did a thread on it. I'll see if it I can find it for you.

Looks like they did it themselves...no way we could. DH and I are not handy at all, plus I need an old patio ripped up.

Has anyone had this professionally done?

SweetCin's husband did not do the regrade - she posted she hired someone out of E. Setauket.

I must have read it wrong. I thought that she posted that's where she got the soil. I'll FM her for the info.

Re: Needs recs for yard re-grading?

We just had this done last week. We used P. Aponte Landscape & Design. Paul was great to work with. Really nice guy. We got his name off of ServiceMagic.com. I would recommend this company and we would use them again.
