Neighbor advice!!
Ok..this is a little long but I need advice. DH and I were in bed last night (2am) and thought we heard his alarm but weren't sure so I got up to look out the window and saw my neighbors son walking away from a car in the street...but 2 girls were standing sort of looking at DH's car--I ran down the stairs but by then they were back in their car and driving off the block and the kid was in the house. I walked over to DH's car but couldn't see anything and went to bed. Today---we are ready to go out and it is VERY obvious that someone backed into DH's car by the drivers door. Now, nobody has been home there all day. What is the best way to approach them.....I don't even know their names cause we live on a corner and their house is on the side of us.
I was just going to knock on the door and tell the parents what we saw and ask that this girl gets in touch with us. What would you do? TIA

Re: Neighbor advice!!
yes, I would say that I witnessed, but it was very late, so I did not want to wake them up.
If they ask why you didn't call the police, just say that since you're neighbors, you didn't feel comforatble "calling the cops on them"

Thats what i was thinking...i'm hoping they don't question why we didn't go sooner!!
And I am a big wimp too....but DH has a bit of a temper....especially with his car!! He feels that they kid should have said something knowing it was our car. I don't want to cause problems b/c they are neightbors but also DH's car needs to be fixed. He is such a car freak he doesn't even want to drive it with the door all dented in!! The window won't open either.
I wish they'd get home already!!!!!! I want to get it over with!

Re: Neighbor advice!!
Since they're kids they probably panicked and it was (hopefully anyway!) the first time the driver had hit someone's car. Good luck, I am sure you'll be reasonable and I hope the neighbors react the same way.

Thats what I'm thinking....they panicked a bit. I don't know them well but they always are nice so I am sure they will be reasonable, and that is why I am going to go not DH. I tent to be much more level-headed then he is.

this sounds good....but if they dont' respond positivly to you...then call the cops right away...you only have so many days after an accident to report it.
