Neighbor's Tree
If your neighor's tree falls on your property, who is responsible for cleaning it up?

Re: Neighbor's Tree

Re: Neighbor's Tree
But in the essence of being a good neighbor..the tree technically is onyour property, I wouldn't just leave it there and expect the neighbor to clean it up, there would def be a talk involved.

Re: Neighbor's Tree
if any bushes or tree from your neighbor yard falls or grows into your yard you are allowed to cut/trim that section down yourself----it is on your property.

Re: Neighbor's Tree
When you say a neighbors trees falls, do you mean some leaves, branches or the entire tree? B/c if its leaves or branches, I would just clean them myself. I cannot imagine knocking on my neighbors door to ask them to come clean up some small stuff, it seems very petty. If it was a huge branch that did damage or an entire tree, thats another story.

Re: Neighbor's Tree
It should be their responsibility but I wouldn't hold my breath waiting for them to do it.

Re: Neighbor's Tree
A few years ago tree in the back corner of my yard went down in my neighbors yard during a storm. I didn't realize it but she came over & brought it to my attention. I had it removed right away. As far as I was concerned it was my tree so why should she have to clean it all up. If it were reversed I would hope for the same response.
ETA: another neighbor was a landscaper & I paid him $50 to clean it up!

Re: Neighbor's Tree
Pleasantly surprised, the neighbor came of last night and said they are having some one come pick up the part of the tree that is in our yard!!!! They are taking the rest of the tree that hasn't broken off yet down too.

Re: Neighbor's Tree
Well as a surprise to you all I have just found out that if a tree falls into your properrty it is legally your responsibility. If a neighbor's tree lands on your house or car you make the claim with your insurance company.
Of course it is the courteous thing to do if your tree falls on a neighbor's property to have it removed, but legally you are not required to.
My sources for this are a few tree guys who we got estimates from to remove and prune some trees, andoour attorney who as some of you know I am talking to about a neighbor's fence issue.
