Re: nervous about flu shot
You will be fine- your arm may hurt for a day or two. That was the only side effect I have ever had.

Re: nervous about flu shot
You will be fine. Your arm might be a little sore just like with any other shot (rub and move your arm around a lot after getting it and that will help a little with the pain). I haven't gotten one in years and had no reaction at all - just a little red dot and it was sore for few short hours.
If you have asthma you are better to get the shot or you can have problems so it is better in the long run for a slightly sore arm than to have a really bad flu.

Re: nervous about flu shot
You'll be fine- as Lillykat said, being asthmatic, you really don't want to risk the flu. Because of my asthma I have always gottent them anyway. I had mine 2 weeks ago and I felt fine, just sore where I got the shot.

Re: nervous about flu shot
Honestly I never had the flu shot because I was so scared of having a bad reaction. I finally got it last week and I was absolutely fine. My arm hurt for a couple of days and I was a bit sleepy, but that was it. I think it is definitely worth it, if it will keep the flu away!

Re: nervous about flu shot
I would ask your OB for their opinion. When I was pg I asked her and she doesnt advise it since I have had it before and you dont know your body reacts to the side effects. I will not be getting it this year either.

Re: nervous about flu shot
The Flu shot is not a live virus anymore, so no one should be scared to get it, it has no side effects. You can have a sore arm thats it.

Re: nervous about flu shot
I have never gotten the flu or the flu shot in the past so I am not going to get it now. I very rarely get sick, only maybe a bad head cold during the winter. My dr. never even mentioned it to me.

Re: nervous about flu shot
I was nervous too, but the only side effect I had was a sore arm and a little achy the day after.
Dr. said I may get a runny nose from it but nothing more.
