Nervous about Thanksgiving travel

We have yet to take a trip with DD. We'll be going on a 6 hour car-ride with her next week for Thanksgiving. I am soooo nervous of messing with her sleeping schedule. She is a great sleeper (knock-on-wood) and I am sooo nervous to mess with it! DH has to work until like 3pm the day before Thanksgiving, so everyone is telling me to leave when DD would normally go down for bed (which is around 8pm)...that it will be better for her to be asleep for the 6-hour trip. Do you agree? She's not the best in the car, so this sounds like the best alternative (esp. with all the crazy traffic around Thanksgiving), but I'm sooooo nervous she'll hate it and wake up screaming when we're only 1 hour into the trip or something, and then not sleep at night anymore.

UGH!! I know I'm nervous about something I can't control, just looking for advice or maybe just to share my fears

I think leaving at 8 sounds like a good idea. The traffic that day will be horrible and maybe you can avoid it at that hour. She will probably sleep and you will be fine! Good luck!

Definitely leave while DD is sleeping. We drove to OH when DD was 7 weeks old and still do the drive to NY every so often (4-5 hrs). We always leave after her early morning feeding (usually about 3:30-4am) and she almost always sleeps the whole way..

The only reason we don't/didn't do the night before is because we both work super early and we are too tired by 9pm.

I agree - leaving at 8pm would be good - your daughter can sleep the whole time and your DH can take a nap when he gets home so he is okay for the drive.
