Nesting...a little bit of a vent

So all I need to "complete" the nursery right now is the danged dresser and then put up the door. Obviously, I want to put the door up last so as not to ding up the new dresser. My aunt was going to purchase it for us as a shower gift. I told her I was going to buy it one day so it would already be on its way because I really want the room done BY the shower weekend so my mom, who is travelling 1200 miles to see it/me can see it completed. [she was just going to pay me back]

Well, when I went to order it, it was purchased. My MIL had bought it. Well, now I have NO FREAKING CLUE when it will arrive and if she had it sent to our house and if she thinks she's holding on to it until the day of the shower [mind you, my mom is leaving the morning after the shower....she won't see the room all together if I don't have it done BEFORE the shower].

I NEEEEEEEEED to know when it will arrive and have this dresser...all the baby clothes are piled up on the changing table keeping me from putting actual changing table items on the changing table! The crib is full of stuff that shouldn't be there for the very same reason. It's all starting to drive me mad. I have been nesting severely for months now.

DH told me this morning that I am making the whole thing up, that it's a shower gift and I better not get it before the shower!Chat Icon I wanted to strangle him...I truly did. He now has a full inbox of online article describing the REAL-NESS and actions of the nesting pregnant woman. Jerk.

It's like his family forgets how I might feel about EVERYTHING and how I might want to handle things....this baby is coming out of my uterus....if I wanted the room done at 12 weeks, that's my bag. I simply want it done in the next 3 weeks. done done....not waiting and wondering if and when I ever will.

Now sits a big "hole" in the room where the dresser should be, tiny clothes strewn about aimlessly b/c there simply isn't anywhere else to put them...hanging isn't an option, the nursery closest is all shelves, you can't hang things in it.

Yesterday, out of desperation, I found myself rearranging furniture in DD's room because I can't do a thing to the baby's room!

I've been good, in the past month I haven't spent more than $100 on baby related items...meanwhile I am literally jonesing to buy up the registry! I see strollers at the mall with babies in them and I have this urge to drive to BRU and buy the stroller, the carseats....

Sorry to be so long-winded, but I'm nesting, I'm annoyed and this freaking waiting game is the worst! At least if I had an estimated date of arrival, I would have something to work towards...but I've done all I can in that little room...

men are clueless! sorry you're frustrated. it may be too early for me still but is it possible he doesn't want you to get it because he knows someone bought it for you already?

No, he's just a stubborn ox. He only knew she bought it because I told him she did. He told me that since it's a shower gift, I better not get it [receive it] until then. [as in, don't even dare ask my mom when it should arrive...yeah........i'm sooooo asking]

this baby better be a girl.Chat Icon

Chat Icon oh i see. what if your MIL gives you a pic of the dresser at the shower with a card and you get the dresser now so you can get organized?

Ok, plleeeeaaaassseee, don't take this the wrong way, but I *think* they are trying to be nice. I know that it is a PITA and you want things to be done for your mom and maybe DH can tell HIS mom that, but in the long run, she bought you a nice gift. And if it was on your registry, then no one really had a "claim" to it and MIL has every right to buy it for you, you know?

Listen, my MIL is a PITA too, she wants to buy us a pnp, but not the one on my registry b/c she likes the color of the one she has for my neice in her house!Chat Icon They are all nuts.

Maybe see if DH can mention it to her casually and see if it can be dropped off before the shower, have him tell her that you both don't think you can get it home and it would just make things easier for you to have in the house before hand. Hopefully, she is will comply.

Good luckChat Icon
