neti pot ... fail?

did it not work for anyone? i guess i am just tooo stuffed? it wouldnt even flow in on one side and barely on the other?

fyi - im on a zpak for a sinus infection right now. been sick since last thurs. guess we really are twins


and ive never tried a neti pot. i hate water up my nose! it scares me!

I use the squeezebottle instead of the netipot because I need the force to get the saline thru my nose.

If you're severely clogged up it won't work for you. If you feel it in your ears/eyes then you should stop. I have sinus infection now and I stopped it because it was just backing up into my sinuses and ears and not coming out. I can still feel it in there; if I cough or sneeze some drops will form at the corner of my eyes. Eeek.

Just sit there with it and make sure you are using really warm water. This has happened to me and eventually the water broke through

DH has this problem with it alot. I find that if the water is warmer it works better when i am really clogged!

When it doesn't work for me, I have to make the water warmer.

thanks, ill try warmer water and be more patient. it burned too, is that normal? i know salt can do that just wasnt sure if it was supposed to happen.

It's NOT supposed to burn. Either your mix of water/saltwas off - or the water was too hot. Doesnt sound like the water was too hot so I'm guessing your ratio was off.

Weird. Neil Med Packets? Are you sure you are using the correct amount of water?

thanks, i did it again tonight with warmer water and it WORKED (and was DISGUSTING! ) but it did burn still i have a sinus infection so i bet that is why. i didnt mix the solution, it came pre packaged so I dont think it was off .. either way, i can sort of breathe through my nose again!

When you first use it, you are only supposed to use half a packet for each side. Try it that way!

I have been using it for years and still only use a half packet for each nostril.

How gross is the word nostril?

This sounds medival! I'm also scared of water in the nose, but was soooooo super stuffed this week i probably wouldve tried it. On night 3 i caved and took nyquil (i HATE medicine, i'm just freaky that way) and the next am I was great. Not sure if it was the nyquil or just getting better.

I have an electric nasal irrigation machine. If you can't breathe freely out of both nostrils you shouldn't irrigate using a neti pot or anything else.
