Never read the books and saw the first two Twilight movies...
& I'm thinking I should have stuck to reading the books and that's it. Of course keeping the guy who plays Edward in my head when I'm reading  I honestly can't believe how well these movies did because I didn't think the acting was all that great especially from the girl who plays Bella. She appears to be so annoying and very unfriendly towards the friends in the movie. Even the name "Bella" doesn't fit the character being played in the movie. Her name should have been Sam or Jessie. Is she supposed to be that depressed looking and always have a blank stare? Now that I watched both Twilight and New Moon I think I liked the first one better because it didn't jump around like new moon did and I am reading that eclipse is just the same way and that it didn't have a lot of great elements coming out of the books.
What's your take on the movies & would you recommend I go straight to reading the books since the movies I think are so bad? Also should I be reading Midnight Sun first? What's the first novel out I'm little confused about it's order. TXS

The books are definitely better than the movies. But I think the movies have gotten better since the first one.
In order it's:
Twilight
New Moon
Eclipse
Breaking Dawn
Midnight Sun is an unfinished novel that Stephenie Meyer wrote - it's Twilight from Edwards perspective. Worth the read though.

lol now I'm thinking of actresses that could have been a better Bella. Maybe Natalie Portman? I guess I have to get a better feel of her from the books since I have read lots of other reviews that Kristen Stewart is not portraying her well at all.

the movie versions of new moon and eclipse were much better than twilight.
the books are by far better than the movies, as most are.
read them!!!

The character of Bella is supposed to be awkward but Kristen Stewart definitely takes it to an uncomfortable to watch level

The movies suck, the books are FANTASTIC. I read them all over the summer and still think about them every couple of days. They're THAT good.

I've never read the books---I can only assume the books are amazing, considering the love of those who have read them.
The movies are big steaming piles of crap. I do NOT get the sex appeal of Robert Pattinson as Edward. GROSS. I remember watching the 2nd movie in the theater (friends wants to see it) and when he opens his shirt and reveals his body, one little girl said "Ewwww" and the entire theater was dying laughing. I wanted to say "I CONCUR"

the movies are AWFUL!! The acting is horrendous! I was obsessed with the books (read them all back to back) and have been so disappointed in the movies!
Def read the books! They are great!

The first book sucked me in. The first half was really decent.. but then it seemed like someone else started writing and it just got worse and worse. Bella in the book is an irritating mopey brat who loves this dude because he is hot and because she digs how obsessed he is with her. Edward is overly broody rather than mysterious and he loves her because she smells like a tasty treat. I kept reading thinking the books HAD to get better. But they didn't. They just got worse. I read the first book, angrily read the second one and couldn't get through the 3rd - didn't even crack the binding on the 4th.
As to the movies... I watched about 20 minutes of the first one before my gag reflexes kicked in and forced me to turn it off.
I guess that means the books were.. better? Or maybe it means the books ruined me for the movie.

The movies are not that great...but the books are better. Not great either, but better than the movies.
Midnight Sun is awesome. I really hope she finishes it soon. Hearing the story from Edward's perspective is much, much more interesting.
