New!
Hi everyone,
I just found out we are pregnant with identical twins! We feel so blessed. Anyway, I'm about 8 weeks along now and am hoping to get any insights from you all about how to have a healthy twin pregnancy. My doctor didn't really give us much in the way of weight guidelines since he said the usual weight guidelines don't apply with twins. Also, I asked him if I should be taking two prenatals a day now but he said no. If any of you have some advice or thoughts to share, that would be great!
Look forward to getting to know you!

For me, I was overweight before I even got pregnant and my doctor told me that I wasnt allowed to gain more than 35 pounds.

Re: New!
Congrats I have identical twin boys. I don't know what your pregnancy is like, but my boys shared the same placenta so I was considered pretty high risk most of my pregnancy...which meant a ton of doctors appts, sonograms and blood flow dopplers for me. I even had a high risk doctor. A majority of identical twin pregnancies do not share the same placenta though.
My boys were born at 36 weeks since they started showing signs of TTTS....but again that is only something they can get if they share the same placenta. They were both healthy and had no NICU time.
My pregnancy was great...I only gained 45 pounds throughout and the doctor said that was perfect. Just listen to your doctor and you will be fine!
Feel free to ask many questions...this board was a lifesaver for me throughout my pregnancy.

Hi Ali,
So glad to hear your pregnancy was so wonderful! It sounds very similar to mine as mine share a placenta as well. My first appointment with my high-risk doctor is this Thursday, so I'm looking forward to his insight. I too will have lots of doctor appointments - my regular OB wants to see me every 2 weeks and I'm not sure yet what the high-risk doctor will say, but I expect lots of monitoring. I'm looking forward to all the appointments though, it helps a worrier like me! Plus, we're going to have an entire photo album of ultrasound pictures!

Re: New!
Hi!
I am having identical twins in April. Mine share a placenta also. According to my high risk OB most identical twins do.
I am going every 2 weeks to the DR.

Re: New!
Yup from what I remember I saw my reg doctor every two weeks (no songorams) and then my high risk doctor approx every 2 weeks and then ever week after 30 weeks. After 30 weeks you will be going to dr appointments like it's your job.....
For me it caught the problem quickly and they decided to take the babies...that is why they do it.
I am sure everything will work out wonderful for you two ladies. Please feel free to FM me any questions!
