New borns and Hiccups

What do you do to stop the hiccups when your DC gets them? I know it is very common with newborns especially but I hate when DD gets them. TIA!

Re: New borns and Hiccups

I found they stopped a little faster if I gave her the binky....that always didnt work though....mostly, you just have to let them run their course

Re: New borns and Hiccups

DD still gets them quite a bit at 10 months - she had them the whole time I was pregnant and has continued ever since.

Same with my DD. She's 11 months now and gets them EVERY time she does a deep belly laugh.

Sucking on something used to help them go away (a bottle, the breast or paci).

Re: New borns and Hiccups

DS had them in the womb and straight out into the world... my doc said it was ok to give water early on... but usually any bottle would help

same here...dd is 8 months and still gets them A LOT - especially when she laughs. when she was younger we would try her binky or a little bit of water...sometimes NOTHING works.

Re: New borns and Hiccups

Gripe Water. Two sips always cured DS's.

Also the ped said most NB's get hiccups till about 6 or so weeks old, there systems are immature which causes them and its normal.

Sure enough Noahs went down drastically at around that age.
