New cycle...some questions
I am currently on CD1 ... I am going to start temping tomorrow morning. My thermometer gives me results with 4 digits instead of 3...for ex. 97.48 instead of 97.4. Should I round the temp. 97.5 or should I just mark it as 97.4?
2nd Question: my cycles have been 41 days with the exception of last cycle which was 34...so based on my 41 days cycle I was told to start OPKs on CD 17 but last cycle I started on CD 11 based on your opinions and I got a positive on CD11 and CD 12 was even darker...then I stopped...so assumed I was going to get an earlier period...but NOPE I got it today...CD42.
So like lululu had said to me I might have not ovulated and if I would have continued to test I would have detected a second surge....so here's the question:
When should I start testing? Also, I would like to continue testing even if I get a surge just in case...so how long do I continue testing after first surge assuming there might be another one.....
Sorry so long....but I want to give it my all...this is the 2nd month of trying after doctor told me to try for 3 months and then come in to start the next step which would be Clomid.
Thanks girls......

Re: New cycle...some questions
Not sure about the rest of it but I also use a thermometer that measures to the hundreths. If you're using fertilityfriend.com you can actually enter the entire temperature (97.48). If you are not (or even if you are and would rather go by the tenths instead, which is what I do), you would round to the nearest tenth of a point (97.5).
A thermometer that only shows you tenths is still measuring in hundreths and does the rounding for you to show you 97.5 so you just have to do a little arithmetic on your own.

Re: New cycle...some questions
Question 1: are you using fertility friend? If so, they allow you to put in two decimal places. However, if you have to put it in with just one, i would round it to the nearest decimal so 97.48 would be 97.5. One basis point really shouldn't make that much of a difference on your chart anyway. When you temp increases it should go up a lot more than that.
Question 2: I would start on cycle day 10 again and see what happens. if you get an early surge again, consider continuing to test until you get AF. this is, of course, if the cost of the test is not prohibitive to your doing this.
If you did ovulate last cycle on day 12 or 13, that would mean that you had an 28 or 29 day Luteal Phase which would be extremely long compared to the norm (12-18 days).
Also, was last month your first month using the OPK? Are you taking any kind of fertility drugs that might affect the outcome of the OPK? I really would think it's unusual to have such a long LP but maybe some of the other girls have some experience with long luteal phases? Mine is on the short end of the spectrum so that is why I might find it even more unusual.

Re: New cycle...some questions
thanks girls...
lulullu...last month was my first time and I am not taking any fertility drugs....the only thing I am taking are my vitamins.
What if I just didn't ovulate...would AF show up 12-18 days after a surge even if I didn't ovulate?
edited to add ...I joined fetilityfriend today just have to figure out how to use it.

Re: New cycle...some questions
Octoberbride just had a post asking what happens if you just dont ovulate. I will try to bump it - there were some links to some good articles.
I do also know that i read somewhere that you can get a surge and not ovulate for one reason or another. Then, later in the month, you will get another surge and actually ovulate.
It is possible your LP is just really really long. I have never heard of anyone having a problem getting pregnant because their LP is too long! It's only a problem if it's too short!

Re: New cycle...some questions
Why would your doctor put you on clomid after only 3 months of trying?
Just curious....

I'm sorry ... I talk on this board as if you girls would remember my history...goes to show you how I feel about all of you
I've have 1 year TTC, when I went for my annual after the one year mark I went for different tests and after all of the results my doctor suggested trying OPKs for 3 months and if that doesn't work we can consider other options. I agreed...i want to try everything myself before taking other steps.
